HOUSING GUIDELINES

  • You are assigned a different chore every two months. That chore must be completed each week between 5:00 pm on Friday and 5:00 pm on Monday. After completing the chore, initial in the space on the Cleaning Schedule Sheet on the fridge. This is an important commitment with living in a Grace Place house, and the only reason to not complete your chore is if you are out of town. In this case, you should ask one of your housemates to complete the chore for you to keep it clean for the rest of your housemates.

  • In addition to the weekly chore, you are responsible to keep your room clean by vacuuming the carpet, dusting (surfaces, air vent, etc.), and cleaning the windows and blinds every weekend. It is also your responsibility to maintain the cleanliness and quality of the property by pulling weeds outside and not standing on furniture. Many couches and other items have been broken this way, and if this occurs, it will be your responsibility to replace it.

  • Your personal belongings are not to be left in public spaces. When you leave a room, take your things with you.

  • Every house has at least one pastor who is part of the household community and will stop by throughout the week to help oversee the property and connect with you. As house pastors, they have keys to the house and will come and go regularly in the common spaces to check on the property and make sure there aren’t any issues.

  • In addition to house pastors regularly coming over to the house, monthly house meetings are part of the Grace Place housing commitment. The goal of these meetings is to create deeper connection, share testimonies, and help resolve any problems or conflicts that may come up in the house.

  • After you use dishes or silverware, immediately wash them, put them in the dishwasher, and leave the sink and counter clean. It is your responsibility to ensure the kitchen is clean for your other housemates to use and in the case that guests come over.

  • After using a pot, pan, knife, spatula, or something else that cannot go through the dishwasher, make sure to thoroughly wash and dry it and return it to the cabinet. Do not put pots, pans, or knives in the dishwasher. It can damage them over time and keeps others from being able to use them until the dishwasher has been run.

  • Alcohol, drugs, marijuana, cigarettes (or any form of smoking/vaping), and weapons are not allowed on the property.

  • The garage is not a storage space. Nothing (clothes, luggage, boxes, etc.) can be stored in a garage without the permission of a house pastor.

  • There is no parking in front of the garage, even for just a short time.

  • House glasses are for guests. Please only use your personal cup.

  • Place all your dry food in your cabinet/pantry shelf; please do not leave anything sitting out.

  • Put your name on all your food in the fridge. Anything unmarked could be thrown away or eaten by others. However, do not intentionally eat others’ food.

  • Make sure you clean up after yourself in the bathroom. Remove all accessories from the counter. Clean all hair from the shower and sink.

  • Turn off all lights, overhead fans, and appliances (irons, shavers, etc.) before leaving the house.

  • When you are finished using the vacuum, remove all the hair from the brush roll and empty it. When you are finished using the dryer, remove the lint after every use.

  • No skateboarding or loud noises are allowed around the outside of the house past 9:00 PM. The neighborhood has evening quiet hour restrictions that begin at 10:00 PM. Limit noise inside the house after this time. We want to honor and respect our neighbors!

  • Shoes are not to be worn in the house, and they should be stored neatly on the shoe rack. If you were walking outside barefoot, please wash your feet before walking on the carpet or tile.

  • You are not allowed on the roof at any time for any reason.

  • You are not allowed to bring any live Christmas trees into the house.

  • No grills are allowed on the property.

  • No pull-up bars are allowed in the house. They can cause damage to door frames which is expensive to repair.

  • If there are any maintenance issues or if you damage or break anything in the house, please notify your house pastor immediately. If you are responsible for damage in the house, you will be expected to pay for repairs or a replacement.

  • You are never to be alone with a girl in any room on the property at any time, and women are not allowed in any bedrooms.

  • This is not the location for your date night, so if you want to have your girlfriend over to the house, then have at least 2 other guests as well. We want to create a safe and comfortable atmosphere for everyone. If you want to go out on a date, then go out!

  • Members of the opposite sex are not allowed on the property after 12:00 am, and there is no exception to this rule. If you are planning on having people over in the evening, make sure you end any planned movies, etc by 11:45 pm so that you are able to get everyone out of the house in time.

  • Be careful what movies, shows, and games you watch or play! Read the rating: media with sexual content, nudity, crude and sexual humor, or pervasive language are not permitted in the house and are bad for your purity.

  • If you want to have a visitor stay at the house overnight, you first need to get your roommate's approval. Then talk to your house pastor to get their approval. Please allow time for this and do not just ask the day before. This house is not for friends to stay overnight who live in Redding, and there is also an age limit of 30 years for any guests who will be staying the night.

  • If you are paying for rent digitally such as an ACH transfer or via credit card then the payment is due by the 25th of each month to ensure the deposit is made on time. Checks are not accepted but if you would like to pay by cash then the exact amount is due on the day before the last day of every month. Please place your exact cash in the largest bills possible (no coins) in an envelope in the designated spot with your name on it before 10:00 am on that day. Utilities are included as long as they do not go above the set price per month. If they do, then everyone is responsible to split the remaining balance.

  • We have a culture of encouragement, love, and grace in our conversations. Profanity, cursing, crude and sexual humor, and foul language (all derogatory speech) is not acceptable. Make sure you seek to love and honor each other, bringing revival wherever you go. You are a family!!!

  • Use your time wisely. (Here are some ideas… prophesy over one another, worship together, play prophetic games, practice preaching, evangelize and pray for the sick, share what the Lord has been showing you in scripture, talk about meaningful subjects, pray together, etc.)
